About
Dax O. Nelson, JD, LLM
Attorney and Owner
Dax O. Nelson practices in the areas of estate planning, asset protection, estate and trust administration, and business planning. Much of Dax’s practice focuses on entrepreneurs, business owners, physicians, lawyers, and other professionals. Dax has experience working with families and individuals wherever they are in their life and career cycle – be it at the beginning as they establish themselves, along the way as they build wealth and look to implement new planning concepts to better serve their family goals, or as they are winding down their career and maybe considering retirement. This work includes looking at asset protection, multigenerational wealth transfer (including elements to prepare and educate), as well as estate tax planning.
After graduating from Stetson University College of Law (JD), Dax earned his Master of Laws in Taxation (LLM) from the University of Florida. He is admitted to practice law in Florida. Dax continues to build on over a decade of volunteer work with his alma mater Berkeley Preparatory School and currently serves on the Planned Giving Committee, as the President of the Alumni Executive Committee, and as a Trustee.
A pseudo native Floridian (early transplant from the Midwest), Dax lives in South Tampa with his physician wife, their three kids, and their crazy pug. Dax starts to go off the rails if he goes too long without mountain biking, enjoying trails locally and throughout the country. In his previous life, Dax was a professional musician in a heavy metal band – he now enjoys listening to a range of music, discovering new music, working with bands on production and development, and attending concerts. Dax also enjoys traveling with his family (especially if it involves downhill mountain biking), watching his kids’ sports and activities, rooting for the Lightning, staying active with strength and conditioning work, riding and racing bikes online, snowboarding and skiing (snowboarding is better ha!), reading, being a fan of The Wire, and generally being outdoors.
